Ratcliffe Envisions Citizen Oriented J-Schools
In an Editor & Publisher interview, blogger and technology writer Mitch Ratcliffe, says:
I can imagine an informal network of civic j-schools that address the need citizens feel when trying to tell a story about events that are important to their community as one eventual form of competition to the news media.
Ratcliffe also co-founded Correspondences.org, which he calls a civic journalism site. Here is its mission statement:
Think of this as a “newspaper out of the box” where everyone can contribute. We’re building a portal for reporting of events by participants and commentators covering all aspects of events around the world, locally and internationally: politics, business, economics, technology, medicine, media and culture.
