Long-form Journalism Gets Personal, Part II
It is a personal blog, so I can get personal. Earlier I asked about the fate of long-form journalists, mainly because my daughter Emily Witt at 26 is proving herself at the Miami New Times. Last time I mentioned that she receive an honorable mention in the Edgar A. Poe Awards which was announced at the White House Correspondents Association dinner.
Today the finalists were named for the Livingston Awards for Young Journalists, and I am very proud to say Emily is one of the finalists. And finally she is a finalist for the Green Eyeshade Awards, for the Society of Professional Journalists Southeast regional contest. She is being judged for different stories in each contest so she has a nice body of work. Okay, enough already, sorry, but what can I say, I am her father after all.
