Minnesota’s BringMeTheNews gets $1 million investment
Yikes, Joel Kramer is beating the bushes for funding original journalism at MinnPost and then along comes BringMeTheNews and gets a $1 million investment for a news aggregating site centered on Minnesota.
Former TV news anchor Rick Kupchella, the founder, says it will be professional journalists filtering the news for you — plus there are labeled sponsored stories mixed in with the real journalism. See the video promo here.
MinnPost writer David Brauer writes in part:
It’s not every day a year-old local news aggregator gets $1 million from investors — much less when it has just 100,000 monthly page views and three advertisers.
But that didn’t stop Dolan Media president Jim Dolan and Padilla Speer Beardsley CEO Lynn Casey from pumping a combined seven figures into Rick Kupchella’s BringMeTheNews, a multi-media site that also produces radiocasts for 16 Minnesota stations.
Ladies and Gentlemen get your engines started there is investment money out there.
