Pew: 18% of Internet Users Paid for Online News, Information
The Pew Internet & American Life Project report on online content purchases shows that 18 percent of internet users have paid for news, information and reports online. It gets better: 27 percent of internet users with college degrees have paid for online news and information as have 25 percent of households with incomes over $75,000 a year.
Although the average user pays less than $10 a month, 11 percent pay between $51 and $100 a month, and 7 percent pay a whooping $100 or more a month for content.
As someone who is seeking to have people pay for news at our Juvenile Justice Information Exchange, JJIE.org, these are encouraging numbers.

It is rather sad to see only 18% take up paid subscriptions to news. We only get what we pay for in this world and quality news as does quality tuition and learning deserve payment of some sort for the hard work the reporters and tutors put in.
