Training to Help Local TV Stations Think Globally

The Radio and Television News Directors Foundation, based on findings of a just released study, will soon be providing TV stations training on how to make local news global and global news local.

The study concludes in part:

We have learned that global perspective coverage can be presented at nominal cost. It does not require international travel, it does not require a significant commitment of staff, and most significantly, it does not involve changing the mission of the station as one that is committed to covering local news.

And adds:

The RTNDF is working on plans to provide training sessions for interested stations and interested staff. We encourage you to contact us directly to inquire about training, to ask any questions about covering global perspective, or to offer insight on how your station has already integrated this coverage into newscasts.
