SPJ Conference Gets Freedom from Wifi Award
I know given the Judith Miller/SPJ First Amendment award flap that this next piece of news, posted as part of a comment at PJNet by Jill Miller Zimon, might sound trivial. However, as a SPJ conference attendee, she writes:
You probably don’t want to know that the conference – for hundreds of journalists – was held in a hotel that had no wifi and terrible Ethernet. My roommate had a Comcast account, and we never were, in four days, able to access the comcast homepage from our in-room computer.
Do you remember at the ASNE conference, when the vast majority of the editors had no idea who Craig Newmark was nor had they heard of craigslist?
Yo, ladies and gentlemen of the news media, WAKE UP.
