One Big Question for McClatchy and the Rest of Us

Ken Doctor, a former Knight Ridder employee, asks Gary Pruitt, McClatchy CEO, ten questions about the sale of the 12 Knight Ridder ophaned papers. Here is the one that is most intriguing to me:

In economically stagnant markets, is the need for quality local journalism greater than, or less than, the need for such journalism in rapidly growing markets? And in either case: who should be responsible for providing that journalism?
