USA’s Foreign Propaganda Bleeds Into USA News
USA led efforts to use propaganda in Iraq by corrupting the news has an effect on USA home-based media, according to a Washington Post story. Which means we as readers or viewers begin to get distorted information.
The story in the Washington Post tells how the US campaigned to turn Iraqis against Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, and how that propaganda bleeds into the US news media. Here is information from Army Col. James A. Treadwell, who commanded the U.S. military psyops unit in Iraq in 2003:
With satellite television, e-mail and the Internet, it is impossible to prevent some carryover from propaganda campaigns overseas into the U.S. media, said Treadwell, who is now director of a new project at the U.S. Special Operations Command that focuses on “trans-regional” media issues. Such carryover is “not blowback, it’s bleed-over,” he said. “There’s always going to be a certain amount of bleed-over with the global information environment.”
Of course, It gets even more confusing when our political leaders begin to quote from the foreign news media. Are they quoting bona fide news or planted stories?
