So maybe if you, as a local citizen journalist, have an idea that could use funding this might be a very good time to drop by and see your local community foundation, which might not have a clue and might use your advice.

I am going to try to learn more about how this might be a backdoor way for citizens to get their projects jump started. Here is the key graph from an early press release explaining the project:

If you want community foundation funding for local journalism projects, Newton says do your homework. Look at this Knight Foundation site and look specifically at the survey Knight did with community foundations. Then go pay your foundation a visit.
