Knight invests $2.23 million in technology, community initiative

The Knight Foundation announced today it is investing more than $2 million in five projects that “use the latest digital tools to help people connect for the greater good.” The funding is provided via its Knight Technology for Engagement Initiative . Plus there will be more future funding available.

J-lab tracks $164 million in nonprofit newsite grants since 2005

From 2005 to today, J-Lab has tracked $164,455,589 million in grants awarded to at least 137 news projects in 20 states and the District of Columbia…funding [is] only for news and information projects.
